Oh, that must be fun to watch, especially when the youngsters leave the nest. I get the impression these are curious, even friendly birds. Would you agree?
Eurasian Collared-Doves are a little wary of people. They are also incredibly careful not to reveal where the nest is (it is just a couple of sticks on a spruce branch) so I’ve never seen it. The young don’t fledge until pretty-much full-grown so I’ve never knowingly seen them either. This year a magpie found the female on the nest and was harassing them. The male chased it off. So I know where the nest was, but I wonder if the doves have moved since the magpie knew where they were.
