Bird sightings, especially rare or reportable birds, should be posted to the Listserv Albertabird. It's an excellent place to read about recent sightings, share your lists and report rare birds. You can read the messages without joining, but if you want to post your sightings you'll have to join the group Albertabird .
Rare or notable birds should also be reported to James Fox at fox.james.ed[at]gmail.com, 780.999.0642. See this post for guidelines.

Alpenglow Nature Hikes. 
Swans, both Tundra and Trumpeter, are late migrants, and they are being seen now on open water in the Calgary area. Tundra Swans will be around until mid-November and Trumpeters until late November, provided there is still open water around. Occasionally a few will overwinter on the river.

We live in New Brighton and saw a pair of swan on our pond today(October 29th 2012). First time we have seen them here. Shouldn’t they be migrating?
