It seems that Bobcats used to be seen mostly in the SW, near the Weaselhead or Fish Creek Park or in adjacent neighbourhoods. In the last few years we are hearing reports from many more areas of the city, including places that are quite far from the river valleys and the boreal forest. I don’t know if they are more numerous, more widespread, or if more people having cameras at the ready means we hear about almost every sighting.

Wonderful moments caught forever. Thanks for sharing,Connie
I am coming to Calgary on October 6 for a visit. I am interested in some wildlife photography. Are there any places you recommend? Are there still owls at Sikome lake or are there better locations?
Thanks for your help. Would love to see bobcats. Don’t see any around Ottawa
Thanks Davi B
The most reliable place for Bobcats is the Weaselhead Nature Area in the SW. They are not seen frequently though. The Weaselhead is excellent for wildlife in general. There is at least one Great Horned Owl at Sikome but they haven’t yet settled down to a specific winter roost site, so you have to be lucky to find it. You could find a Great Horned Owl in almost any park.
Lovely captures Ron
