Hello Last week I saw a bird I have never seen before. I believe I identified it as Lazuli Bunting. I know it is not common in Calgary but I was shocked to see a bird with a blue head, wing and back with an orange chest and Creamish underside. I feel like this is a once in a life time sighting here but I was so happy to have seen it. Would have got a picture if my dogs didn’t start barking. Please tell me I got the right bird.
It does sound like a Lazuli Bunting. They are rarely seen in the city although they do breed in the foothills in places like the Sheep River Valley. Great sighting!
