Travel Tuesday: Frank Lake

Michael Pott sent us these outstanding photos of his trips to Frank Lake on June 27 and 28th.  He says his equipment is simple and of average quality-Nikon D7000, Sigma 120-300 mm with 2x extender, monopod.  Truly the most unique photograph of a Red-winged Blackbird I’ve ever seen!

  1. One of my favourite places for birding! Haven’t been able to get there since last year. These photos are remarkable and make me yearn to go back. I have never seen a white-faced Ibis there! Well done, Sir.

    • I love the pictures too but could I ask one tiny detail, please? Could you add the lens and the settings with the pictures. I have seen you out but have been too shy to approach you. I just bought my first DSLR and am taking a photography course so numbers are everything for me right now. I find your pictures very inspiring. Also could you please do an update on the Inglewood sanctuary? We haven’t heard too much about the effects of the flooding. Thank you so much!

      • Hi Karen,

Thanks for the comment. In the photos that I post from here on, I’ll post the camera, lens, and settings that were used to capture the shot. Unfortunately for our reader submitted photos, unless they submit that info, we won’t be able to add it. It’s something I’ve been wanting to add since it does help others get a better idea of what settings to use and what equipment is worth using!
